“Over the hills and far away, teletubbies come to play!”

Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa, and Po is finally back! After airing their last episode 14 years ago, they’re finally making a comeback through BBC’s CBeebies. Teletubbies was first aired back in March 1997, and became a worldwide hit with 365 episodes. It was watched by over 1 billion children in 120 countries, and in 25 different languages. Some of the trademarks of the show would be the sun with a smiling baby’s face, and the green hills of teletubbyland. 60 new episodes are now at work at UK production company Darall McQueen while back episodes are being shown at BBC. Changes will be made, but only minor ones. Technological and creative changes will be made to match the new generation’s expectations.

Just last week, BBC has announced the casting of some of the voices that will take part in the remake. Absolutely Fabulous star Jane Harrocks will give voice to Tubby phone, which will take form in a mobile-style gadget, and is one of the changes made to fit the show into the modern times. Fearne Cotton, a former BBC DJ Radio, will give voice to the trumpets that come out of the ground. While, Daniel Rigby and Antonia Thomas will be voicing the Narrator and Opening/Closing line respectively. News about the voices of our teletubbies is yet to be announced. As for now, repeats are being aired in CBeebies while waiting for the new episodes.
