The Boy Band Conspiracy

There are no words to perfectly describe my relationship with boy bands. They were one of the best secrets from my childhood and being the fangirl that I am, keeping them like that was no joke. As a kid, I memorized the lyrics of their songs by playing them back tirelessly on my cousin’s Walkman. Even though I was too young to even understand what most of it meant, there was still a part of me that felt as if no truer words were ever spoken. I meticulously planned my wedding to either Carter boy (in case Nick gets married soon, I still had Aaron) as if it were the most important thing a 10 year old should be spending her time on. I was so sure of it. Everything made sense. They had me with their sick dance moves and witty music videos, which I patiently waited for on TV.
I was on an all time high as if these boys just decided to offer me the world, all until they decide to part ways. I felt betrayed at first not understanding how these same boys somehow managed to stab me in my sleep. I got over it of course; I learned to accept it as a part of my fangirl life. I knew well what I was getting myself into, like the threat of emotionally scarring myself for life (Obviously, I’m still not over Westlife’s split in 2004). But as a true fan, I must stand by them until the end and pray to the heavens for a reunion concert of some sort, anything to signify that not all hope is lost. Now here are a few of my favorites and their songs that just might be in my life’s soundtrack.
COLOR ME BADD
This one was actually way before my time but I still grew to love them especially on days I feel like singing in the shower and pretending I can actually sing.
Hit songs: I wanna sex you up, All 4 love, and I Adore Mi Amore
LFO
R&B songs that make me want to put on lipstick and be all pretty?? Y E S
Hit songs: Girl on TV, Summer girls, and West side story
NSYNC
Before Justin Timberlake started running around in a dystopian sci-fi thriller, he was a high note hitter although I’m pretty sure he still is. Being into pop, the band easily managed to become teen idols with their upbeat dance music.
Hit songs: It’s gonna be me, bye bye, bye, and This I promise you
BACKSTREET BOYS
That is all.
Hit songs: I want it that way, As long as you love me, and Everybody
**BONUS
THE JONAS BROTHERS
Although I never admitted to this, I was actually really into the Jonas Brothers for a time. (5th grade me has finally come clean) I still wouldn’t compare them to HANSON because I think they’re a brother band of their own with pop rock in their veins.
Hit Songs: Year 3000, Burnin’ Up, and Lovebug
